2015 Fall - RV Trip to Alabama

Cindy and I travelled to Alabama in November of 2015.  The intent was to get one last trip in before winter and we put away the camper.  We have been to the Gulf coast of Alabama before and had not plans to visit there on this trip.  We wanted to explore the center of the state, so we stayed in Cheaha State Park, which is North Central of the state.  There is a small mountain range along that area.  Cheaha Mountain (highest point in Alabama) is in the State Park.  Alabama is fairly flat except this small mountain range.

We did a lot of hiking, biking and got in a few rounds of golf.  This was off-season, so we were alone doing our stuff.  Warm days and very cool nights.  Great weather for camping.

One of the random golf courses we picked to play.  Talladega Country Club.
Beautiful course with rolling hills.  It was fall there as well and it seemed
golf courses there "brown out" in the fall.

Hiking in Cheaha State Park.  Great hiking!

Cheaha State Park Campground.  Wasn't hard to find a site.  Since this was on
top of the mountain, it cooled way down at night.  Always windy.

Found a county Park to park at and start the Chief Ladiga
biking trail, which starts near Anniston AL and continues
to Atlanta Georgia.  We just stayed at the park for the day, as
our home base.

  1. When I think of Alabama, a mountain range definitely doesn’t enter the picture. Who knew? 😬. Beautiful scenery!
